I am a fourth-generation woodworker who has been pounding nails since
I was old enough to lift a hammer. My love of designing and creating things with wood and
my own hands won out over my degree from
WMU in Engineering Graphics. Yes, I listened to my mother and finished college.
I even went so far as to pursue an office job in my given field, but
I had to wear a tie...
I decided to get honest with myself and off
I traveled
to Arizona to work in my father's shop. In the process of winning my
wife's heart, I headed to New York City where I gratefully found myself building fine furniture at Heptagon Creations in Greenpoint
Brooklyn.
My wife and I returned to Kalamazoo in
1998 to be closer to family and to find some green land of our very own.
Since then, I have been learning the art and balance of being
self-employed. Greene's Woodworking allows me to work at what I love - which sometimes even feels like play. Now isn't that a great thing? You can find me in my shop - measuring, pounding, scratching my melon and smiling as I create things of functional beauty.
